It provides users with a series of running related tools such as GPS mapping and a customizable training plan. BravoBug Software has introduced a new memory game for the iPhone and iPod touch, SimonSez. Designed to challenge the user’s audio and visual pattern recognition skills, the player is given an increasingly difficult wave of sounds and light flashes which they must try and duplicate. Also included is a score board and adjustable game speeds.

SonicPics provides a variety of tools for creating and narrating customized photo slide-shows. Users can add images from either the iPhone’s library or camera and combine them with up to 60 minutes of recorded audio. Support is included for uploading movies to YouTube or transferring movies via Wi-Fi, as well as sending videos by e-mail.

MobiMind is a new puzzle-based iPhone game where players try to guess a hidden color combination by sliding color counters into designated areas. It offers four different difficulty levels to choose from and allows users to pick from different colored counters and background themes. ZoomMediaPlus has introduced the ZoomIt memory card reader for the iPhone and iPod touch. The new dock-connecting accessory works with the company’s ZoomIt application that provides access to content stored on SD cards. Support is offered for all file types recognized by iPhone OS 3.0, ranging from photos and videos to PowerPoint documents. The accessory allows users to upload all stored media for use at a later time, or share files with other users via e-mail, Facebook or Flickr.

nova media has released a new sync application for the Mac, FoneSync for LG phones. The utility syncs Address Book and iCal information with a variety of LG devices. Support is currently present for just the HB620T, KF750 and KU990, but more models should be added in the future. In hopes of speeding up the the process a free tool has been released that checks if a phone can be added. FoneSync for LG phones is available online for $20, and requires Mac OS X 10.5.8 or 10.6.1, plus a Bluetooth-enabled Mac.

The iPhone 3.1.3 firmware has introduced problems for some people even as it has fixed them for others, say complaints on Apple's support forums. Most critical is an issue with battery life, which can suddenly become erratic. A phone's battery meter may potentially swing wildly, for instance going from 25 to 7 to 10 percent, then jumping back up to 24 percent.

The unofficial iPhone Dev Team has released PwnageTool 3.1.5, an updated version of its jailbreaking tool for iPhones and iPod touches. As is normal with Apple firmware, the official iPhone 3.1.3 distribution undoes any jailbreaking or unlocking if installed on top of hacked v3.1.2 code. The PwnageTool update allows some devices to retain their hacks while gaining the advantages of the new firmware.

WolframAlpha 1.1 is a new version of the company’s scientific calculator for the iPhone and iPod touch. The latest version brings the total number of usable keyboards up to four, consisting of a Greek, Math, Symbol, and default keyboard. Additionally, a new substitution system and improved graphics rendering have been included.

Trunk Notes 2.1 is a wikipedia-style personal database used for creating and managing notes. With the upgrade the app now supports voice wiki entries and enables users to add images directly from the library or built-in camera. Additionally, entries can now be tagged with the user’s current location, which is displayed on the integrated map.

Smart Recorder 2.0 provides users with an interface for recording and playing-back audio files. Version 2.0 is now designed to compress audio files before exporting them and includes a new direct e-mail feature that enable users to send recordings that are up to an hour in length. A series of interface and performance improvements have also been included.

ZTak Software has introduced a new puzzle game for the iPone and iPod touch, Marble Burst. The object of the game is to remove groups of same colored marbles until the playing field is completely cleared. Players are awarded medals for obtaining high scores and can upload their score to the game server in an attempt to win the high score plaque.

The new Food Guide app provides users with detailed information on most of the common food products in Europe. Containing approximately 1,500 food products and ingredients, the app spans 18 chapters and includes 1-5 star ratings on each item. Features include built-in photos and translation assistance for English, German, and Spanish.
The release of the promised Logitech SqueezeBox Touch has again been delayed, according to a Thursday post by a Slim Devices developer on the official Logitech forum board. The last delay promised the touch media server would arrive this month, and Logitech is still keeping mum about why the device has been delayed. Forum members speculate Logitech ran into major software or hardware problems.

The program makes it possible to scale images both vertically and horizontally without distorting the content. The Consumer Electronics Association has announced that the 2011 CES iLounge Pavilion will feature the largest display of iPod, iPhone, iPad, and Mac related products and services in the shows history. The iLounge Pavilion was a new addition to this year's exhibition, with more than 100 companies. For next year's show, the Pavilion will feature 50,000 square feet of floor space with companies such as iSkin, Mophie, and Scosche displaying new products. The 2011 show will take place in Las Vegas from January 6th to 9th.

Apple has again expanded the functions of iTunes Preview, the web-based showcase for material at the iTunes Store. In addition to music, site visitors can now see previews of iPhone apps; when opening an app link in a web browser, people will see details and screenshots without having to own iTunes. Actually downloading an app requires following a link back to iTunes.

Apple will likely sell 2 million iPads in FY 2010, with another 6 million coming in 2011, says Needham & Co. analyst Charlie Wolf. The firm has completed its first assessment of the tablet's potential, which is said to founded on several assumptions. Because of a $500 base price, the iPad is expected to attract a "non-trivial" number of the 75 million iPhone and iPod touch owners in existence, as well as more buyers in the form of netbook shoppers, schools and hospitals.

Accessory maker Scosche today put out the solBAT II as its second wave of solar-powered external batteries. The pack gives iPhones, iPods and most handheld USB devices a 1,500mAh lithium-ion pack whose sun recharging lets it provide "free" energy to keep a device going. A single charge is estimated to be enough to power a typical cellphone twice over, though it's not known how efficiently it works for smartphones; Scosche says the add-on behaves like a maximum 5V wall adapter.

Mobomo has launched ExpenseBooks, a new iPhone app designed to log FreshBooks expenses. It offers a full history of FreshBooks expenses, and provides tools for deleting, editing, and creating entries. Users can view details or create expenses while in offline mode and then sync any changes with FreshBooks once an internet connection is available.

iChalk Mobile is a new drawing application that allows users to develop pictures using chalk-style colors. Features include four different backgrounds to draw on, up to eight chalk colors, and three separate chalk sizes to choose from. When a picture is finished users can shake the iPhone in order to erase, or save it to the library. All pictures can be e-mailed to friends or posted on Facebook.

The new iPhone 3.1.3 firmware wrecks any previous unlocking or jailbreaking efforts, warns the unofficial iPhone Dev Team. Both the PwnageTool and redsn0w tools are noted to be incompatible with v3.1.3, with the exception of the latter when jailbreaking a first-generation iPhone or Touch. In those cases, users can point the software to an existing v3.1.2 IPSW.

French developer and publisher Gameloft generated $25 million off the App Store in 2009, according to the company's newly-released financial statement for the period. The figure represents a 231 percent increase year-over-year, and helped to push the company's mobile sales up by 12 percent. This in turn helped to boost the company's overall revenue, which was up 11 percent to about $170 million.

Sony may be close to holding a 'second launch' for the PSP Go to shore up its sales, a claimed leak indicates today. The gaming giant is supposedly unhappy with the slump in performance of the redesigned console and is gearing up for a second marketing campaign. Other steps are said on the table and are speculated by Gamervision to include a price cut from the current $250 price tag.

Apple has pushed a new firmware update, v3.1.3, out to iPhone and iPod touch owners. The release is a minor one, fixing bugs rather than adding any substantial features. Key among the changes is better battery meter accuracy for the iPhone 3GS, addressing a long-standing complaint. Also fixed are crashes when using the Japanese Kana keyboard, and a problem preventing third-party apps from launching.

Lexcycle's Stanza e-book reader for the iPhone and iPod touch has been stripped of USB book sharing, at the request of Apple, the developer says. Stanza 2.1 is now being distributed through the App Store, and makes the removal of USB sharing the only change. App owners were previously able to transfer ePub or eReader books into Stanza through a USB cable.

A sender unit connects to an iPhone, iPod or other device with a 3.5mm headphone jack and transmits 16-bit/44.1KHz audio using the 2.4GHz frequency to a built-in receiver in the folding headphones. Both phone calls and music will pass through from any compatible products.
