DVD Jam to be held next month

Apple will hold a 'DVD Jam' contest in Paris next month. The three-day competition will run from September 22-25, 2001 (right before the Apple Expo), and challenge contestants to produce the most creative DVD using Apple hardware and software.

Shrink II 1.1 allows complete manipulation of Apple II ShrinkIt archives. Both extraction and compression are supported, as well as other manipulation of archives. Version 1.1 has complete support for Navigation Services and uses the Appearance Manager to enhance its look and feel. The software is available for $30 on CD-ROM.

Weekend round-up: Apple #4, KidSafe, dispute

Over the weekend we noted Apple's discontinuation of the KidSafe component of its iTools services set, a new 17.4 inch LCD from Cornerstone Peripherals, an NPD Intelect study marking Apple as the number 4 selling retail computer maker, and Apple's dispute with Germantown, TN over its logo use in a retail store location. Software updates included Cookie Dog 1.1, iLabel 1.7.1, and mPeople 1.1 We also posted a review of OmniGraffle.
