Griffin debuts iVault aluminum case for iPod shuffle

Griffin Technology today announced the iVault aluminum case for the iPod shuffle. Griffin, in collaboration with designer Greg Gutierrez, has created a "stunning enclosure that incorporates maximum protection with an elegant design. Machined entirely out of aluminum, the iVault safely encloses your iPod Shuffle, while still allowing total access to the control wheel, audio jack, on switch, USB port, and LED. The front and back halves of the case are joined together by 4 small screws, so your iPod Shuffle is guaranteed to be secure. Lightweight yet strong, the iVault and the iPod Shuffle together weigh less than 1.5 ounces." The $30 case is expected to begin shipping in May in four distinctive colors: silver, blue, red and purple. Pre-orders are available now.

I mean, does the shuffle really need a case? This case is nicer then the shuffle, you'll have to get a case for the case to keep it pretty, it is a third of the price afterall.

This is a lot more protective than the plastic case; since the Shuffle is intended to be used in more high-risk environments, this isn't out of line.

I listen to mine while riding my bike to work; with this case I don't risk destroying my shuffle if I take a tumble.

I wonder if this is designed by the same guy who's doing CNC-milled shuffle and iPod aluminum cases.

His stuff was on ipodlounge.com

My biggest complaint about the shuffle is that the switch really needs a ridge, or groove in it; sometimes it's hard to slide that switch.

I think these cases are designed to give the Shuffle a Mini type look with nice bold colors. These are meant for those who want to small simple shuffle with it's high impact in relation to sports etc and want it to look way cool. Hey... being seen with a MP3 player that is an iPod is very trendy... I see them everywhere, even at the gym last night,... was kinda surprising, I had to hide my old 1st gen iPod from others eyes as to not let them know I have an older bulky iPod, not to mention more scratches than a kitty post after catnip. But hey it works,...

If I were biking or jogging, the blue aluminum one would ticky my fancy, hehe
