Griffin ships AirClick Remote for iPods

Griffin Technology today announced that it is now shipping its AirClick Remote, a unique wireless remote control for the iPod and the iPod mini. "Unlike conventional remotes, the AirClick Remote uses Radio Frequency (RF) technology, which allows users to control their iPod from up to 60 feet away. Users will not have to be in the line of sight for it to work, making it a perfect solution for using your iPod while in your car, hiking or exercising. RF signals also pass through walls, so you can control your iPod throughout your home." The AirClick remote is compatible with all iPods that have a dock connector. The Griffin AirClick package is now shipping for $40.

The compact remote control features five buttons: play/pause, next track, previous track, volume up, and volume down. It also has a hold switch, mimicking that of the iPod. A clip on the back provides instant access while jogging, cycling or chilling on the couch. In addition, it will enable the iPod photo to advance pictures while in photo mode.

Griffin says that each AirClick receiver has the ability to be paired to any remote unit. A single AirClick remote can control multiple iPods, or if two AirClick remotes are being used in close proximity, they could be paired to individual units for maximum flexibility. Each package ships with a remote, a receiver and a convenient remote cradle and straps for attaching it to an automobile steering wheel, bicycle, etc.

And it's the same price of the Apple wired remote! Goodbye nasty looks on the train while I get crazy-tangled in all my cords!

I am assuming it is also an FM transmitter? (why else would they have the steering wheel band?)

Vaughey1,

This is just a remote. As far as the car setup, there are now so many ways to attach your ipod to your car stereo, an addition FM xmitter isn't really that useful. This just lets you control it once connected.
