Griffin debuts all-new iTrip for iPod nano

Griffin Technology today announced its new innovative FM transmitter: the iTrip for iPod nano is a completely rethought version of the popular iPod accessory, according to the company: the iTrip now uses the iPod's high resolution LCD for optimal viewing of station information. In addition, it features a sled design and minimalist controls, making it thinnest FM transmitter Griffin has produced. SmartDisplay technology seamlessly integrates all functions and features with the iPod nano, displaying all iTrip tunning and setup info on the iPod nano screen itselt. Griffin's exclusive SmartSound volume control dynamically adjusts iPod's volume level for optimal audio quality. The company is accepting pre-orders now and the device is expected to ship in November for an introductory price of $50.

Additionally, users can control iTrip's volume level through iPod nano's click wheel. The iTrip for iPod nano securely connects via both the iPod's dock and headphone connectors and offers a user-adjustable mono/stereo setting. The device supports US, international, and Japanese tuning modes, stores the last three used station presets, and will allow the iPod to charge and sync while connected.

Griffin says the new iTrip design does not add bulk to the slim, sexy iPod nano. To stay securely attached the new device uses patented micro grip technology, which uses microscopic material to provide a secure grip without ever losing its holding properties.

"iTrip's innovative selectable mono or stereo modes allow the user to adjust for the absolute best possible reception under real-world conditions. Enable stereo mode for the best audio reproduction when you have a clear station. Switch to mono mode in tough situations, such as large cities with stations crowding the dial for unparalleled reception.

The new iTrip draws its nominal power directly from iPod nano, requiring no batteries or AC adapters. A built-in USB port allows iPod nano to charge or synchronize music.

I'm a big fan of the stuff Griffen has come out with for the iPod line. I just wish Apple would add an FM/AM tuner and it would work similar to this new Nano transmitter, on screen, elegant and simple.

Nice job Griffen!
