A call center employee suggests that Microsoft may be dealing with an unusual number of cracked Zune screens, Electronista notes. According to the Engadget tip, a number of callers have been complaining about Zunes whose screens cracked after being left to charge overnight. The source believes that this could be due to the position of the lithium-ion battery in the player, which is directly behind the LCD, and may be expanding far enough to put pressure on the screen. This is unconfirmed however, and Microsoft does not consider the problem to be within warranty coverage. Other Zune owners have also disputed the claim, noting that their own Zunes have been charged for hours or days at a time without trouble.
V-MODA today debuted two special edition colors for its VIBE earbud line titled Red Roxx and La Mocha. The earpieces are aesthetically designed to match specific portable media players, and the former mixes red with black metal to complement Apple's PRODUCT (RED) iPod nano. The company's La Mocha features gold and brown colors to complement Microsoft's brown Zune player, according to Electronista, and either version is functionally equivalent previously-released black and chrome models. Red Roxx and La Mocha are available for $100, and are shipping from resellers as well as the Apple Store online.
