Coke+iTunes: 2 billion chances to win

Dubbed the largest music promotion in Europe's history, Coca-Cola has once again partnered with Apple's iTunes Store, this time to offer European Coke drinkers 2 billion chances to win free iTunes downloads as well as iPods and concert tickets. The promotion is scheduled to run between May and August, according to Crave, and Coca-Cola will pay for the cost of the downloads as part of the deal. The promo will give away iPods, as well as free tickets to numerous iTunes and Coke-sponsored concerts. Various well-known but yet unnamed stars are scheduled to perform at the musical events alongside new and lesser-known groups, according to the report. Dance collective Faithless has recorded a track specifically for the new partnership, and will perform live at the promotion launch at the Cannes Film Festival. The dance group also joined designers to create a limited edition Coke bottle that will ship only during the iTunes+Coke promo. Last summer the companies joined to promote European iTunes and the companies also launched a promo in the UK last Fall as well as a smaller free iTunes song campaign in Italy earlier this year. Europe has been long ignored by the promo deals that we in the us have taken fro granted. Now it's their turn, and apple and we will benefit. What i'd love to see is a healthy beverage company do a promo, like Honest Tea, or POM. How about free iTunes store credit for buying diesel or something else? There is a high demand for iTunes songs, and any company or idea linked to a promo is sure to benefit from that exposure. How about 2 free tracks for a donation to a specific list of charities? If you don't like it, pitch apple your own idea.

It was clearly a joke. chill out. although i have to agree about the healthy drink idea, why are all promo's linked to crappy products like soda, sugary breakfast cereals, or godawful fast food? can i get a free track for every meat-substitute I purchase? i mean Jobs is a vegetarian, isn't he? plus, a free track might help make overpriced POM an actual worthwhile deal.

If they gave one song for every meat substitute, they would give what, 10 songs away?

How is Coke at fault for health issues? Ever think it might be the people that are responsible? Nah, couldn't be, they're not as smart as you, able to make CHOICES!

...are you referring to cocaine, and the health issues associated with drug abuse? or are you implying that people are somehow coerced into becoming fat-assed diabetics... by a beverage. an inanimate object, beckoning them to indulge beyond reason.

jeebus de cristo, wtf happened to any notion of personal responsibility? grow up ruperts. mom can't protect from yourself forever.

personal choice should be the cornerstone of any decision, but w/out quality information, how can folks make informed, knowledgeable choices? How many Coke ads show overweight, pre-diabetic, cavity-stricken kids happily drinking the product?Since according to their ads, only the slim, active, beautiful folks drink Coke, then yes, Coke is partially at fault.Since Apple is a responsible company, I would like to see a promo campaign that promotes halthier products.

honest tea, pom and other yuppy drinks don't have the money to pull off a promo like this because their drinks cost over $3, and the american people have voted with their wallets and aren't buying them. their market share is infinitesimal compared to coke. coke owns a tea company, minute maid, and makes diet sodas... hopefully the promo will extend to those as well.

there is a label that shows how many calories and sugar are in the product, and soda and other foods have been known as "junk foods" for a very long time. people know its bad for them, if they don't care then too bad.

also, no where in the ad is coke saying drink five cokes a day. i have one or two cokes a week, enjoy them, and i'm not fat and have no cavities.

people need to be more responsible for themselves.
