Briefly: Refurb Nanos $109; 1TB hard drives

In brief: Apple is offering refurbished iPod nanos for as little as $129, WiebeTech is set to offer 1TB hard drives in many of its storage products, and ALT Software is demonstrating new technology that supports Flash and SVG to create dynamic user interfaces for automotive navigation as well as other systems. O'Reilly Press has unveiled Flash CS3: The Missing Manual, a blogger has a suggestion on how to be more productive in Apple Mail, and MacPlus has released a new free international service to evaluate the price of used Macs. Apple's online store is selling refurbished previous- and current-generation iPod nanos at discounted prices. Reconditioned previous-generation Nanos with 4GB of storage in white or black are priced at $129. Refurbished current-generation iPod nanos are available in 2GB ($109), 4GB ($149), and 8GB ($199) capacities.

1TB storage

WiebeTech today announced that the company will soon offer 1TB hard drives in many of its storage products, and is taking preorders for those devices which will ship in early June. The new hard drives are SATA II with differing speed modes, a 32MB buffer, quieting acoustics, SMART capability, and a 7200 RPM spindle speed.

Flash in cars?

ALT Software is demonstrating new technology that supports Flash and SVG to create dynamic user interfaces for automotive navigation as well as telematics and in-car "infotainment" systems. The new Vector Engine will ship with a package of software tools and run-time elements that streamline the user interface design workflow by using existing graphic editing tools -- including Adobe Flash and Scalable Vector Graphic (SVG) editors.

Flash CS3 book, Apple mail productivity, used Mac pricing

O'Reilly Press has released Flash CS3: The Missing Manual ($35), offering readers an animation primer alongside a guided tour of all the program's tools and capabilities.... One blogger is suggesting that Mac users leave their inboxes cluttered to be more productive with Apple Mail, flagging messages that require attention and using the search function to locate desired content.... MacPlus has announced a new free international service to evaluate the price of used Macs, which will evolve every day and references thousands of Apple configurations.

$109 or $129? If the price of refurb nanos is really news, then I'd say $20 makes a difference.
