WeBot service adds Mac, Linux support

WeBot today announced that its recently-launched service for bringing multimedia content to any computer or compatible device -- like Apple's iPhone -- is now compatible with Mac and Linux systems. WeBot enables users to play music located on a home computer at work using a Web browser, and provides instant access to media across all machines and servers as soon as it's downloaded. Users can share pictures stored on several computers regardless of their locations, and WeBot negates the need to manually upload or synchronize files. The service is currently available as for testing purposes, requiring users to create an account and sign in prior to usage.

"WeBot will forever change the way you and your friends listen to music and share pictures. Developed by a team of engineers behind some of the Internet's largest media services, WeBot uses lightweight 'media bots' that index and share all of your pictures and music through an intuitive web-based media player."

Unlike remote-access tools that only allow a single user reach files in one place, WeBot enables multiple users access media transparently and securely, according to the company, across multiple machines or locations.

It is a great news for the Mac and linux users as it make them able to exchange the Ipod downloads with each other without any trouble of unwanted data exchange on the ipod.

how come there isn't a greater integration with iTunes. that's where all my music lives. And sharing. I want to be able to listen to all my friend's tunes, too.
