Apple prepping iTunes 7.5 update?

Apple is preparing a new update to iTunes, bringing it to version 7.5. Although the update is a large step from v7.4, the new version will primarily be focused on stability fixes and small feature additions, and doesn't seem to include any outstanding new features, according to AppleInsider. There have been several users reporting problems while upgrading iTunes tracks to iTunes Plus, which Apple will supposedly be resolving.

Although the update will be mainly for bug fixes, Apple is improving iTunes' ability to deal with duplicate videos and songs, and will most likely be introducing support for the UK and German release of the iPhone.

The aforementioned problems with iTunes Plus revolve around a freezing issue that crops up when a track has been fully downloaded. The bug causes iTunes to hang indefinitely, resolved only upon force-quitting the application.

The update is currently in late beta, and should be seeing release within the next week. According to those close to the project, any of these details are subject to change as the beta evolves, resulting in a timeframe that is uncertain at best.

The real problem with the iTunes Plus upgrade is that, after forcing iTunes to quit, iTS thinks the file has been downloaded, but it is nowhere to be seen. So, you have to contact Apple to get the file downloaded again. Big pain in the neck.

Its been almost 2 weeks without an iTunes update. I've been going into withdrawls!

To me, this isn't a new problems. I used to have all sorts of problems with downloads. Usually when making a 'large' purchase, I'd lose the connection half way through, and have to re-connect to get the rest of the music. Then spend 20 minutes trying to figure out if anything is missing, finding it, and contacting apple, hoping to get a response at all.

To deal with this, I now drag my entire shopping cart into a playlist, so if/when the download fails, I can easily see what file is missing (it'd be the one which still lists the cost, rather than listing all the other info).

Apple needs to take iTunes more seriously. For being their hub app, they haven't added any useful features in a long time. I want tagging of files. It's a travesty that tagging is in iPhoto and not iTunes. I'd be happy to pay for iTunes if that's what it takes to get them to innovate.

I don't know what you mean by tagging, but most of my music is tagged and allows for easy smart list creation and the like.
