Varasoft updates Videocue, Wirecast

Vara Software today announced updates for two of its applications, Videocue 2.7, software that acts as a teleprompter for individuals doing a video podcast, and webcast manager Wirecast 3.0.4. The updates ensure Leopard compatibility, and have resolved some outstanding bugs, as well as some new feature introductions. Both applications are available from Varasoft's webstore, with Videocue selling for $40, and Wirecast at $450.

Videocue 2.7 introduces a few new features, allowing users to mute any speaker throughput while rehearsing, and being able to hide the teleprompter for a full-screen preview of recorded content. Users can also enable a visual countdown timer so that they can be ready when recording starts, and clips can now be locked in the storyboard, allowing the text from the prompter to flow around them. A complete list of recent additions can be found here.

Wirecast 3.0.4 fixes a few problems with the application, such as an audio issue inherent when using DV media, and Spotlight can now find the proper meta-data that is assigned to a project. Varasoft also added in several function key shortcuts, allowing users to assign F1 - F10 to various shots and switch to them on the fly. Varasoft maintains a complete version history for Wirecast on its product page.
