iPod updates: Classic, 3G Nano, 5G iPod
Apple today released a software update for its newly release iPod classic and "3G" iPod nano as well as the 5G iPods. iPod Software 1.2.3 resolves a problem with the iPod (5th generation) where songs and other content do not appear after updating to software version 1.2.2. According to Apple, the iPod v1.03 update for the iPod nano/classic offers "bug fixes;" however, reports indicate that it resolves general issues with games affecting song play counts, the iPod nano's clock, problems with Cover Flow and a spinning hard drive issue (on the Classic). The 58.2MB available via iTunes.

And I find my nano's clickwheel oversensitive, and a real pain, but its not a 3g.
Since way, way back to the 2G units, a smart playlist that evaluates to NO SONGS will still be listed in iTunes but NOT on the iPod. Firmware 1.2.1 introduced a show stopping bug whereby smart playlists that have NO SONGS listed to be listed on the iPod.
With great difficulty I found out some details and was eventually able to change my Pod to 1.2 from 1.2.1. Bug goes away.
With over 50G ON my Pod, I would rather not give 1.2.3 a shot because if they did NOT fix this show stopping bug, I'd have to re-load all that content from scratch because I'd HAVE to go back to 1.2.
So I am interested to know IF they fixed this rather serious issue.
