Peggle for iPod released

PopCap Games today released Peggle (site not updated) for iPod via Apple's iTunes Store. The game utilizes the iPod's clickwheel as players fire a metallic silver ball from the top of the screen, relying on gravity to propel the ball downward while it ricochets off of orange and blue 'pegs.' While attempting to clear all of the orange pegs from the screen players can hit a moving 'bucket' at the bottom for free balls, and green power-up pegs give one of ten different abilities. The game is priced at $4.99.

Players of Peggle can listen to personal music playlists during gameplay as they progress through 55 levels as well as 75 grand master challenges and obtain 10 magical powers. Two-player duel mode is also supported, according to PopCap.

Power-ups include explosive area-clearing blasts, lobster claws that serve as pinball-type flippers, and 'fireballs' that cut through all pegs in their path.
