Briefly: Reviews, MacBook tops Amazon.com

In brief: MacNN has reviewed Need for Speed Carbon as well as AKVIS Chameleon 5, Apple's MacBook took one of the top three sales spots during Amazon.com's holiday season, and 'Toon Santa' is offering free 3D models of Apple's iPhone, iPod, and iMac. MacNN has reviewed Need for Speed Carbon ($40, shown at right), an arcade-style street and canyon racing game that features music from popular artists like electro-clash Ladytron and Australia-based Wolfmother.

"What starts in the city is settled in the canyons as Need for Speed Carbon immerses you in the world's most dangerous and adrenaline-filled form of street racing. You and your crew must race in an all-out war for the city, risking everything to take over your rivals' neighborhoods one block at a time. As the police turn up the heat, the battle ultimately shifts to Carbon Canyon, where territories and reputations can be lost on every perilous curve."

AKVIS Chameleon 5 review

MacNN has also reviewed AKVIS Chameleon 5 ($75 for home license, $230 for business) a tool designed for photo collage creation that negates the need to thoroughly select an object for pasting into a new background.

The software features a Montage mode that enables users to combine images while making the errelevant parts of the pasted fragment fade away, a Chameleon mode that adjusts the pasted fragment to the target image color range, and a Blend mode that smoothes borders of the inserted object while also making the object semi-transparent.

MacBook tops Amazon.com holiday PC sales

Amazon.com today announced the results of its 2007 holiday season, revealing Apple's MacBook as one of the top sellers in the online retailer's PC category.... Meshbox has released a series of 3D models -- including an iPhone, iPod, and iMac -- that work with Adobe's Poser software.
