IO: Bring home the Nautilus-114 spaceship
Atman Software today launched IO, a new side-scrolling game that challenges players to bring the Nautilus-114 spaceship back home. "the task isn't easy thanks to the many robotic minions that now inhabit the ship. In order to accomplish your mission, you have to play evasively (hide in the dark, walk don't run), avoid detection and carry out your objectives." Players are accompanied by a robotic friend, Ned, taking enemies down and gathering data pertaining to the destruction of the ship's human crew. The game is priced at $13 and requires Mac OS X 10.4 or later.
IO features side scrolling action while allowing players to move in and out of the screen, hiding in dark nooks and picking up secret items. A point and shoot mechanism allows players to click on the screen with the mouse to look at or shoot at the pointed spot.
The game also features various equipment like radar to spot enemies, night and thermal vision cameras, cloaking, weapon add-ons, and more. Weapons include a machine gun, rail gun, grenade launcher, rocket launcher, 'Displacer,' and a flame thrower.
Nine differnt 'bots' types populate the title, and the author suggests savvy players can complete the game in under an hour.
