iRiver LPlayer, Spinn, P20

iRiver has announced a full three new media players, each with a substantially different design. One of the most notable of these is the LPlayer, a compact model most likely intended to compete with the iPod nano or the Zune 4/8. The front surface is dominated entirely by a two-inch screen, suggesting touch control; regardless, it does feature FM radio, and comes in 2, 4 and 8GB sizes sharing four different colors (white, brown, purple and cyan). No prices or release dates have been disclosed.

The most unique may be the Spinn, which uses a 3.3-inch AMOLED screen, and incorporates a new self-titled interface intended for easy control with one hand. In addition to FM radio, the player has a built-in Bluetooth receiver, something rarely found in media players. The player has 4, 8 and 16GB sizes, but it is unlikely to come to North America in its current state, as the presence of DMB TV and an e-dictionary indicate a strictly Korean audience.

Showing at CES is the P20, a player meant as much for photo and video storage as playback. It is purportedly the first such device with a 4.1-inch, 16.7 million-color AMOLED screen, and it holds either 120 or 160GB via a hard drive, plus more through removable SD cards. The player uses the same interface as the Spinn, and pro photographers can take advantage of RAW file support. Once again though, DMB TV suggests that a North American launch is uncertain.
