OmniFocus task management tool ships

The OmniGroup has announced the release of OmniFocus 1.0, their new task management tool. OmniFocus is a personal productivity application that can be used to implement the "Getting Things Done" work-life management method developed by David Allen. The tool is designed to quickly capture your thoughts and allow you to store, manage, and process them into actionable to-do items. Tasks can be assigned to projects and stored within contexts (for example: "Home", "Work", or "Garden"), with built-in visual cues that highlight the next action you need to take care of.

OmniFocus features include a quick entry panel, accessible via keyboard shortcut from any application, import for kGTD documents, iCal synchronization, extensive project and task filtering, file attachments, saved viewing perspectives, and more. OmniFocus licenses for $80. OmniOutliner Professional license owners are currently eligible for a 25% discount off the OmniFocus license fee.

There are a lot of GTD-type todo programs for the mac now. In addition to this one, there is the free iGTD and the still in beta "Things" and I'm sure others. Omni is a great company though and I hope they do well. They seemed to have priced the same as "Life Balance" which has Mac, Windows and Palm versions.

If you're into the GTD stuff, check them all out. I love Life Balance as I use it on the Palm and sync to the mac. It actually doesn't really call itself a GTD application since David Allen's book came out in 2002 and they have been doing this stuff since 1993 for the Newton.
