Intego launches X5 security software

Intego today launched the X5 versions of its FileGuard, Internet Security Barrier suites, NetBarrier, Personal Antispam, Personal Backup, and VirusBarrier applications (site not updated). FileGuard X5 creates virtual safes that can store sensitive files, which in turn are transportable to remote servers or external disks. FileGuard can create safes of any size and with any kind of document, with special safe types to protect email and instant messaging transcripts. Intego is showcasing and selling its X5 software at Macworld Expo in booth no. S-2426.

FileGuard X5's safes are accessible from the Finder and open with a double-click, assuming the party opening the safe has the proper password. Safes act like folders, allowing users to add files via drag-and-drop, and the software securely deletes original files after they are successfully copied to the safe.

FileGuard X5 also adds 256-bit encryption, the ability to convert safes to folders, and automatic secure deletion of files when added to safes.

Internet Security Barrier Suites

Internet Security Barrier X5 Antispam Edition aims to provide protection from the dangers of the internet by protecting Mac users from malicious users and viruses while also providing spam and phishing protection. Internet Security Barrier X5 Backup Edition is designed to protect Mac users from malicious users and viruses by helping users to create backups, bootable backups, and synchronizing files across folders as well as volumes and computers.

NetBarrier X5 Personal Firewall

Intego's NetBarrier X5 Personal Firewall software features a new user interface designed to accommodate beginners as well as advanced users. The personal firewall, internet filter, and network monitoring tool for Mac OS X is fully compatible with Leopard and runs on both PowerPC and Intel-based Macs.

Personal Antispam X5

Personal Antispam X5 is an intelligent program for fighting spam and phishing emails, learning from email messages received as well as regular monthly updates to help keep inboxes as spam-free as possible. The company has also improved virus scanning, added automatic as well as scheduled virus scans, and included a quarantine zone to isolate infected files. The update also scans numerous types of compressed archives, checks for tens of thousands of Windows viruses, and provides command-line access.
