Apple adds pink iPod nano

Apple has updated the Apple Store with a new color of the iPod nano. The 8GB player is now shipping in pink, making for a total of six available colors, including black, green, cyan, silver and red. In keeping with its siblings, the pink Nano costs $199; the 4GB player continues to only be available in silver for $149. The release of the pink Nano follows brief downtime for the US Apple Store, even though it appears that just the one item was added. The inclusion of the Nano in a new gift graphic may, however, suggest that Apple has timed the new color's introduction to coincide with sales for Valentine's Day.

they updated the MBs two months ago. What do you want them to do to them this time?

And I think we all agree that the pink iPod was to try to stay ahead of the color curve from the Zune.

zink, I think he's looking for one that actually matches the iMac, not "well, they're both monochromatic).

And, danviento, explain to her that Valentine's Day is a made-up holiday used by the card, candy, jewelery and flower companies, not to mention the restaurant and hotel associations, to convince people that they need to spend $$$ on those special someones to 'prove' that you love them.

If that doesn't work, then explain how all of that just commercializes the holiday, and minimizes the true meaning of Valentines Day, and you refuse to succumb to such obvious consumerism when a simple "I love you" is all that she really wants to hear.

That'll work! Trust me!

Yeah - I'm jumping on that band-wagon_

I digress_

The 15" MacBook Pros were tweaked before Macworld to have BackLit LCD screens - check out the specs at Apple_ Saw that info 2 weeks before-hand_

Now the brushed Metal look on the backside of the iPhone would look good on the Front of the Silver iPod Classic_

And as for this Pink thing goes - Thank you MacNN for stating the obvious "pink release to coincide with Valentine's Day" - damn - couldn't have figured that out on my own_ Apple updated the product pages and the Store - surprised they didn't tweak the commercial and throw in 1 or 2 pinks in the mix_

Avon Pink

I knew it! One day when I was on my way home, I look up at the billboard while waiting for the train and it hit me. No not the train. It was an advertisement for the Avon Walkathons that are coming up. In the billboard were thousands of ladies all wearing their pink Avon Walkathon shirts. And that's when I thought... "Apple could seriously capitalize on this market" and this was before the lady from Avon came on the Apple board of directors.

Apple is has a whole new crowd of users they will market the iPod too.

Mark my words, you heard it here first.

mad! She just got a red nano for Christmas. I'm sure that she'd like pink better. At least she contributed to a good cause getting the red one.

I thought that was done back when they were last updated in August. It's not mentioned on the Macrumors upgrade guide.

The first week of 2008 brought us new Mac Pros; the second week brought all that MacExpo-y goodness; week three brings us the pink iPod nano. Steve did promise us (or imply) that there would be exciting new things coming out of Apple every week in 2008, right?
