Torque Game Builder 1.7 released

GarageGames today released Torque Game Builder 1.7, an update to the game development software that features improved editors for modifying link points as well as collision polygons. Further changes include new methods for dealing with scene objects, and a new editor for creating vector objects. The latest update to the TGB engine follows the release of version 1.6 on December 14th, which introduced a host of bug fixes and improvements. Torgue Game Builder 1.7 is priced at $100 for independent developers, or $500 for commercial use (system requirements were unavailable).

For developers looking to create 2D console games, the engines available to those who license Torque 360 (for use on Xbox 360 and Xbox 360 Live Arcade) and Torque for Wii (for use on the Nintendo Wii and WiiWare) now include the 2D functionality of Torque Game Builder, according to the company.

The Game Builder 2D Toolset, coupled with TorqueScript, allows easy access to user interface creation, effects, tiles, level building, and packaging. TorqueScript -- the programming language used by Torque Game Builder -- is designed to be easy for users who know flash, Visual Basic, or another scripting language.
