Apple files hand-held gaming trademark

Apple has filed a trademark application that covers a wide array of video game and toy devices. The trademark lists "Toys, games and playthings, namely, hand-held units for playing electronic games; hand-held units for playing video games; stand alone video game machines; electronic games other than those adapted for use with television receivers only; LCD game machines; electronic educational game machines; toys, namely battery-powered computer games," according to Trademork.com.

The Cupertino-based company introduced iPod-only games that are playable on its video iPod last year, and recently brought those games to its iPhone and iPod touch devices.

Rumors are circulating that Apple may be secretly developing a portable device specific to gaming, which this trademark filing seems to support.
