LinkedIn Mobile, iPhone

Two cellphone-optimized versions of LinkedIn's social networking website have launched, say members of the company. The site is geared towards exploiting connections for career purposes, by getting users in touch with past and present coworkers and classmates. The site also points out connections in job hunting, and links people to experts with job advice.

The first new version of the site is optimized for conventional WAP browsers, but the second is intended for the iPhone, and launches automatically when an iPhone (or iPod touch) is detected. Layout resembles the arrangement of sites like Google or Facebook, and users can scroll through personal profiles using the Rolodex-style system seen when browsing an iPhone's music or contact collections. The mobile sites are currently available in languages including English, French, Spanish and Chinese; most functions are present, but the Answers and Experts sections have yet to be added.
