Apple meeting on iPhone
Apple this morning issued invitations for "an iPhone software roadmap" event set to take place next week. The meeting will likely discuss the forthcoming software development kit (SDK) for Apple's cellular handset which the company promised to roll out some time this month. The town hall meeting will take place at Apple's Cupertino campus on Thursday, March 6th at 10:00 a.m. PST. Apple also told invitation recipients to expect "some exciting new enterprise features," hinting that the company is moving toward corporate adoption with future iPhone revisions. [updated]
Apple's invitation depicts a roadmap beginning with "Enterprise," leading to "SDK" and eventually arriving at "Software Update."

J2ME really needed

If Apple wants to really make inroads into the corporate world with the iPhone, then supporting Sun's Java2 Micro Edition available is essential. All other competitors have J2ME, and there is a significant base of Enterprise applications here. I won't consider replacing my Nokia until Apple makes a move toward J2ME. In any event, we'll find out soon what Apple is planning. Flash support will also be nice.

Amazon doesn't have the 8GB iPod Touch in stock. It shows in stock on March 6. Coincidence?

Apple has announced that on March 6 they're probably going to announce when the iPhone SDK will be out. May as well release that breath I was holding.

If they want Enterprise iPhones, it's gotta talk to Exchange like Windows Mobile and do email, AND Calendar, and Contacts at the very least.

"Flash support will also be nice." While they are at it, let's hope for some better product synchronization like NOTES, TODO LIST, OFFICE SYNCHRONIZATION. You know, stuff that you typically find on other less inferior "SMARTPHONE". Instant photo and Video Messaging would be nice too ;-D

with the SDK, some intrepid developer can figure out how to add copy/paste capabilities, or something complex like searching an address book.
