New York Apple stores lack iPhone stock

All three of Apple's New York stores are reportedly out of stock of all iPhone models – the SoHo, 59th Street, and West 14th Street locations. According to The Huffington Post. all three stores report that the device is out of stock, and it is uncertain when new units would be available. A representative from the 59th Street store advised potential iPhone customers to order online.

Several New York AT&T stores denied having inventory issues, saying that the iPhone was available.

I'm a New Yorker, and I don't even go to Apple Stores more than once a month on average. And yet, every time I am in one of them, someone with a thick accent is attempting to purchase the standard two iPhones (the max Apple will sell anyone).

Basically, the biggest tourism magnet in the country is naturally the place where the most iPhones are sold.

True. Since the balance between the Dollar and the Euro is in favor of the Euro, a lot of (mainly) European tourists are shopping for iPhones. That's were the 'missing' iPhones probably went: to Europe.

Yeah no kidding you have em, ATT. Who in their right mind would set foot in an ATT store given a choice? When I got my iPhone at one of your stores on release day I felt like taking a shower afterward. Thanks for forcing me to buy a 256k USB key for $15 in order to get an iphone, btw. You insured you'll never get a sale from me if I have a choice. (I was able to return the key later)

Um, last time I was in the Apple store (dropping off my dead G5 tower, still waiting for it to be fixed), it said the max was 5. Which I'm pretty sure is the case, because there was someone in there buying five of them (up until the point one of them asked if she was taking them back to china, and they denied her, because it isn't for 'export', and it doesn't work there, etc, etc, etc). I think the passport gave her away.

She should have just refused to give ID and demand they accept the visa card (as they are required to do)
