Briefly: Speck ActiveFit Armband review

In brief: We have a review of the Speck ActiveFit Armband, an Apple Store thief stuffed a 13" MacBook down his pants, MacTech is offering VBA to AppleScript bundles, MacSpeech extends its crossgrade offer, and Photoshop Elements 6: The Missing Manual for the Mac ships.. We have posted a review of the Speck ActiveFit Armband. The inside felt-like material protects your iPod from scratching when it is inserted or removed. The case is sewn onto a breathable mesh pad that extends into a foot-long armband. The armband includes well-secured 1.25" long Velcro strips every inch. The video screen sits behind a flexible thick clear plastic sewn into the case. The Click Wheel is exposed though, so you may want to use a Gelaskin to protect it from grime. All the stitching is clean, straight, but a couple of dangling threads appeared after a few weeks of wear.

Video of Apple Store thief

MacResource, an Apple retail outlet in Huntsville Alabama, has poted a video and several images of a thief who made off with a 13" MacBook in his pants. The thief spent several hours distracting employees at the store then stole the laptop. He and his accomplice drive a two-tone Mercedes, black on top and silver or gray on the bottom. The vehicle license plate is 57721AV.

MacTech offers VBA to AppleScript bundles

MacTech has released created a set of delivery mechanisms for its guide to making the transition from VBA to AppleScript that allow people to get the guide on the web, as a PDF, and a hard copy. A new bundle allows users to buy "book" (valued at $40) in print, PDF, and bundled with a MacTech Magazine subscription (courtesy of Microsoft) for $20. There's a PDF only option, bundled with a magazine subscription, for $10 as well. There's a bonus chapter on AppleScripting Entourage (Entourage doesn't even have VBA support, but does have solid AppleScript support).

MacSpeech extends crossgrade offer

MacSpeech is extending its introductory crossgrade special for iListen customers through April 15th, 2008. As an iListen customer, you are eligible to receive the brand new MacSpeech Dictate at the introductory crossgrade price of only US$80 (regular crossgrade price US$100). MacSpeech Dictate provides speech recognition accuracy and works with the applications you already have, including Apple apps like Mail, iChat, iPhoto, and more. MacSpeech Dictate also controls your Mac.

Photoshop Elements 6: The Missing Manual for the Mac

O'Reilly's has released Photoshop Elements 6: The Missing Manual for the Mac ($40) by bestselling author Barbara Brundage. The book includes instructions for using all the new features including Guided Edit for performing basic editing tasks, the improved Photomerge feature, the handy Quick Selection Tool, and much more. "Elements is wonderful software, but there's a lot going on. I wanted to help people find their way around the program and to understand some of the great things they can do with it," says Brundage, the author of O'Reilly's bestselling Missing Manuals about Photoshop Elements.

the thief only spent minutes, not hours in the store. Hope they catch the bastard and send the computer to me.

It's not "In brief"...

It's "In briefs".
