We have posted a review of DiscCatalogMaker RE, part of the Toast 9 bundle. DiscCatalogMaker catalogs everything on your external discs or internal hard drives. If you want it to also scan compacted files, such as .zip, .sit, or even the age-old Compact Pro archives you can check those boxes in the Preferences. You can also set the preferences to open a new or existing Catalog upon launch, set a font, and choose white or horizontal stripes for the background window. You can also choose a detailed view or choose the type and creator view.

Cancom buys Scotsys' Scotland Mac store

Scotsys has agreed to sell its Edinburgh retail business to Cancom, a major Apple Reseller group, headquartered in Guildford, Surrey. Scotsys says the move will allow the company to focus on its key areas for future growth: providing services and solutions to public sector clients and businesses, particularly in the SME space. For Cancom, the purchase provides a first store in Scotland to complement its existing locations in Brighton, Cambridge, Guildford and Kensington.

TransGaming joins Khronos Group

TransGaming Inc, a developer of portability and graphics technologies that allow games to be easily ported from one platform to another has become a Khronos Group Contributing Member. TransGaming will now participate and vote with all Members in the ongoing development and promotion of open standards for the authoring and acceleration of dynamic media on platforms ranging from embedded systems to high-performance desktop and workstation systems. TransGaming says it will now be able to aid the evolution of OpenGL, including development of standard APIs.

R.E.M. performs at London Apple Store

Billboard reports that R.E.M. showcased its new album, "Accelerate" (Warner Bros.), alongside obscure old songs during an intimate showcase for fans and media at the Apple Store on London's Regent Street. "The gig on Wednesday (Mar. 26), part of the iTunes Live From London series, began with "Bad Day," followed by 'Auctioneer (Another Engine)' from 1985's 'Fables of the Reconstruction,' before the band unveiled its first new song, lead single 'Supernatural Superserious.'"
