iPhone 2.0 to get contact search, meeting invites
Apple's next generation iPhone 2.0 software is expected to bring both contact search and meeting invites, according the latest builds distributed to developers. Based on a information from software distributed privately to enterprise beta testers, new screenshots reveal a new search bar in the Contacts menu. The new feature replaces the magnifying glass icon seen in the iPhone SDK demo, according to the report. In addition, the drawer button in the Calendar application, previously inactive, provides access to a meeting invitation interface that displays the number of new requests as an icon badge -- much like other new content notifications, according to the report. Engadget also indicates that enterprise users don't get the app store or iTunes store icons.
Apple is expected to release the iPhone 2.0 software, and perhaps a next-generation 3G iPhone, in June at its annual WWDC developer conference.

As much as I love using my iPhone, it's a but mickey-mouse when it come to features and compared to my old HTC phone. I read the iPhone PDF manual on the iPhone, I can't store secure information like usernames and passwords, and I can't even cut and paste.
But hey, I can spend money at the iTunes shop so that's OK.
And then maybe offer it in other english speaking countries like Canada, eh... :)
I had been using LockBox on my iPhone, but that requires a jailbreak and therefore I would loose the app on the next OS upgrade (for a while, at least).
Of course, copy and paste is also way up there on my wish list, along with to-dos, notes sync, and video capture.
Geesh, can't believe you people. You whine over not having search, then you'll whine if they don't allow you to search on every field you want...
Now, if only Apple could develop some type of software that could allow you to search through all the items on your iPhone/iPT, rather than just in a single application. Something like Google desktop.
So if you know there's a mention of a meeting tomorrow, but you don't remember if its in the calendar, a note, or an email, you could just do a system-wide search.
And they could give it one of those cool names they like to give everything (you know, like Bonjour, Time Machine, Time Capsule, Spaces, Dashboard, etc). I know, what about "Searchlight"!
That would be killer...
And as for the "Searchlight" feature you came up with, Apple already created it; and their "cool name", Spotlight, is significantly better. I'm sure it is only a matter of time before they include it on the iPhone.
