PwnageTool 1.1 adds custom content support

PwnageTool 1.1 released


The iPhone Dev Team has released a new update for its PwnageTool, bringing the software up to v1.1. The program is used to hack into iPhones and iPod touches, opening access to third-party native applications; in the case of the iPhone, users can also gain access to unofficial cellular carriers. The update has several new features, among these support for custom packages, as well as custom logos. The BootNeuter.app file is automatically deleted now, eliminating some unnecessary manual maintenance.

EDGE data settings under the v1.1.4 firmware have meanwhile been fixed, and the program now supports the 5A240d developer build of the iPhone 2.0 firmware, currently bundled with the official iPhone SDK. PwnageTool remains Mac-only, as the Windows version (created outside the Dev Team) has encountered unexpected delays.

    Must it be called "Pwnage tool" ? I couldn't bring myself to give it a second look with a childish, cheesy name like that.

    I'm sure the developers will be really saddened to hear that. Especially when they find out it was "grrr" said their product name was cheesy.

    Im not trying to market professional software though am I? Making my forum name of less significance than a business/company/product name by a long shot.

    pwnage just makes me think of those irritating kids on forums and online games that proclaim "I pwned you! lulz!" constantly. Makes me cringe and I don't see why an iPhone software product should have to associate itself with that kind of thing.

    Sadly, the very kids who named it, don't even know how to properly spell it themselves... Then again, par for the course for that demographic, I guess.

    Fair point ;) Still, they are marketing far more than I am evidently, professional or not. And if I did market anything, im pretty sure I wouldn't choose the name "Grrr" for it anyway :D Having said that, its probably still a better name than "Pwnage"
