Odysseus: Eudora clone/successor
Infinity Data has updated the status of Odysseus, its Eudora clone and successor. At this time, Odysseus is being tested by a select group of approximately 500 individuals in preparation for a public beta toward the end of this month, with a final release in May. From now until the final release in mid-May, anyone who wishes can pre-register for Odysseus for $20. Once Odysseus is upgraded to Open Beta later this month, the license number will allow them to register the Open Beta version, as well as the final 1.0 release in May. As with licenses purchased after 1.0 is released, pre-registration licenses entitle a person to receive free upgrades throughout the 1.x product cycle.
OnScreenDNA temporary price cut
OnScreen Science has announced a time-limited price reduction of over 70 percent on OnScreen DNA, the standard edition of its suite of DNA visualization software for Mac OS X and Windows XP/Vista. The software is an interactive computer model of the DNA double helix designed to provide a thorough understanding of the three-dimensional structure of DNA and how it works. OnScreen DNA will be priced at $19.53 instead of its normal $69 until April 25, the date on which scientists and teachers celebrate the 1953 breakthrough discovery of the DNA double helix structure. OnScreen DNA Pro will be reduced by the same dollar amount to a price of $49.53.
O'Reilly's Big Book of Apple Hacks
O'Reilly has announced "The Big Book of Apple Hacks," author Chris Seibold's new collection of tips, tricks, and hacks helps you to get the most out of Mac OS X, your iPhone, the new line of iPods, and Apple TV. "Into the weather? With a few tools Seibold shows you how you can turn your Mac into a weather-monitoring beast. Got an old Macbook? Seibold can help you soup it up. Got Leopard? Find out how to gain control over your widgets with three simple tricks. 'Most of the hacks in the book are answers to questions or problems people have had when using their Apple products,' says Seibold." The book is price at $35.
Carbon fiber iPhone cases shipping again
Having overcome some legal hurdle, Belch Co. is once again shipping its iPhone cases. The company said in a statement: "We at Belch Co. would like to apologize to our valued customers. For legal reasons Belch Co., the producer of premium carbon fiber iPhone Cases, has been at a stand still for nearly 12 days. Cases are sitting in our facility but we have not been allowed to ship them. As of Monday April 14th Belch Co. has begun resuming regular operations. We would like to let our customers who are experiencing long delays know that we are shipping their cases as fast as we can this week. We are also offering a refund of their entire shipping cost for the long delays and inconvenience."
