AppMenuBoy returns hierarchical menus to Leopard
Google is hosting a new extension for Mac OS X Leopard, called AppMenuBoy. Like Quay, the program addresses an interface change to Leopard, in which Apple removed hierarchical menus in the Dock. This has been partially restored in Mac OS X 10.5.2, which lets users set the Applications menu to list mode when dragged into the Dock, but this is not the same as in Tiger, which presents submenus for anything under Applications.
AppMenuBoy is said to return Leopard to full Tiger functionality, and improve convenience even further. It now follows aliases, and will only display applications. Additionally, if a folder has only an application, the icon will be "hoisted" so as to avoid creating nests of folders with only one item each. AppMenuBoy is a free download.

Hard to believe how utterly wrong this article is. Hierarchical menus show up just fine in 10.5.2 when the stack is set to List view. Is this really a Mac site? MacNN should b ashamed of themselves.

I did look into this. This does not really have anything to do with the existing dock functionality at all as far as I can tell. The app just has a menu that has all of your applications listed in the dock when you right click it. If you go to the site, the author lists the specific reasons in the discussion why he wrote it. Mainly to show applications only. Anything that isn't an application will not show in his menu.That said, this article is a little misleading.

Yeah, this is shameful journalism. One of Apple's early updates to Leopard allowed users to enable List View on dock folders. Perhaps if this story came out last Winter, it might make more sense.
