Apple debuts 'Get a Mac' TV ads ['Sad Song' added]

Apple has premiered two more TV ads in its "Get a Mac" series, pitting Apple computers against those with Windows. The first of these, "Pep Rally," features a squad of cheerleaders, and positions Macs as having "record sales," and being the most popular computers on college campuses. The second ad is entitled "Group," and continues the arc of Windows Vista suffering from instability issues, whereas Macs are positioned as reliable and less crash-prone. Update: Apple has posted yet another ad titled "Sad Song," in which PC, dressed as a cowboy, laments the loss of users by singing the Vista Blues: "So many users are leaving me and ain't coming back: Vista's got issues...they're leaving me for Mac."

How About an RC Sim Ad?

It can show the pile of Mac software being completely empty, while the Windows side is completely overflowing with both free and really good commercial software.

It sucks that I have to run Windows to do anything computer related in the RC flying realm.

Let's have an add explaining why HFS can eat its catalog if you let your free space get below 10% and it can't find enough contiguous space to expand it. Or why it's OK that Finder can't run each window in a separate process so that when (not IF) it hangs accessing a lagged out network server you can keep on working. Apple's got their own share of problems, and given any kind of competent competition (which is where Microsoft fails) with an actual marketing budget (which is where the other free UNIX based systems fall down) they'd have to make it on their hardware quality and value.

(yes, there's a joke in the last line there)

Of course, this is for RC Helicopters which require a bit more skill than fixed wing. ;-)

Niche, niche, niche

Rhymes with another word I'm thinking about. Other than niche applications, gaming, and, I am guessing, some corporate applications I don't buy the overflowing with software argument any more. I can do anything I want on my Mac and can get the software to do it. Gaming is probably another matter (but I'm not a gamer, so frankly m'dear I don't give a d***). I would imagine there is some corporate stuff too that is Win-dohs only. And how much Win-dohs freeware comes bundled with the virus, adware de jure. I just finished three painstaking days trying to get my school's PC in my apartment in China devirused. Blech! Constant USB swapping with the classroom computer has created a plethora of problems. Now my PC is safe, albeit nice and sluggish as the virus software lurks in the background. The only reason I bother to use the bloody thing is to check that my Mac-created Keynote and PowerPoint presentations translate okay for use to the classroom PC. Thank god, the guy at Hamrick fixed VueScan, so I no longer have to use the PC for scans!!!

with what's soon headed our way.

For people tiring of the I'm a Mac / I'm a PC ad with PC getting all the ribbings, just wait, the national political season is fast approaching and soon we will see all the "PC", as in Politically Correct, ads, spouting the faults of one side or the other.

Can we say "bend over"?!?!?!?!
