JVC slips out dual-dock iPhone/iPod speaker

JVC PN7 iPhone iPod Stereo


JVC has entered into the arenas of both iPhone speakers and multi-device Apple households with the quiet launch of the NX-PN7. The clock radio is JVC's first certified to work with the iPhone and includes dual docks that allow two iPhones or iPods to charge and to play sound from one of the through a 15-watt stereo speaker array. The company has yet to say whether the iPhone requires Airplane Mode or can leave its cellular connection online to take calls without leaving the dock.

LED strips underneath others let users color-code the devices to let users know which one is theirs at a glance. An AM/FM tuner is built-in along with an alarm that can wake up to one of the devices as well as the radio.

The speakers are nonetheless compact at just over a foot wide and finds room for video output to a TV, an auxiliary input jack and an iPod-influenced remote control that makes navigating tracks a more familiar experience for click wheel iPod owners. JVC says it's already shipping the PN7 and sells it for an official $150.
