Mobile Me FAQ, Me.com addresses working

As Mobile Me nears its unveiling, Apple has written an FAQ support document for current .Mac customers who are curious about the impending transition, while a user has informed MacNN some unofficial good news regarding "@me.com" email addresses. The FAQ addresses many questions from users regarding whether or not services will be available, or whether user input is required for the process, most of which is revealed to be automatic.

Apple confirms in the FAQ that it will kill several of the .Mac features – web access to bookmarks, iCards, .Mac slides, and Mac OS X 10.3 Panther syncing – but web galleries and web sites will exist on both .Mac and Mobile Me servers.

In addition to the official FAQ, a user writes MacNN to point out that sending emails to user@me.com now functions the same as user@mac.com. Users are now able to obtain email through either address, although it is uncertain whether this feature will stay up between now and Mobile Me's official launch in early July.

The FAQ was helpful with a ton of information I was wondering about, but there's one question left unanswered: What about custom created sites (like real HTML created by Dreamweaver or GoLive, etc) hosted at http://homepage.mac.com and will they be changed to homepage.me.com ? I dont mind about losing the templates, but will we not be able to host that information anymore?

I have tested sending myself emails to .mac and .me- seems as though .me is much faster. Is this because of the push nature of mobileme?

Consider that .mac gets probably 1,000x as much eMail as .me at this time and it's pretty easy to see why one is faster than the other.

No, push eMail has nothing to do with this.

I can't even understand why it would be faster, since isn't one just an alias to the other?
