Telia reworks iPhone plans

After hitting a steep wall of customer resistance, Telia Sweden is buckling to pressure and is offering an unlimited data plan for the iPhone, as well as allowing customers to choose between its existing voice plans. iLounge reveals that the company received an overwhelming amount of complaints after initially offering customers 100, 250, and 1000 minutes, SMS, and data on plans that ranged as high as 859 SEK per month, in addition to handsets costing as much as 3295 SEK.

The move is a boon for other countries in the same situation, such as Rogers Wireless in Canada. Despite the close past relationship of AT&T and Rogers, or the proximity to the US where unlimited data is abound, Rogers is bilking Canadians with expensive data and small daytime minute pools, as well as paying extra for features such as caller ID or "early evenings" at 6PM.

Ruinediphone.com – a recent movement on behalf of the Canadian public – has gathered over 31,000 signatures on a petition against Rogers' exploitive data rates. Both Telus and Bell, Rogers' CDMA-based competitors, offer unlimited data on various BlackBerry and HTC devices for $30 CAD.

I am hoping that NetCom (TeliaSonera in Norway) follows suit.

Telia Sweden's iPhone page has stated all the time that it was possible to buy the iPhone with any plan, but they didn't list the price of the iPhone itself when bought with the other plans until yesterday.
