Briefly: review, call for iPhone/PHP developers

In brief: We have posted a review of Colin McRae Rally Mac, MacNN is seeking experienced web/Xcode developers, Adobe's Flash 2 Beta for Mac OS X undergoes a bug fix, an iPhone 3G ringtone tool debuts, and The Macintosh Business Users Society will hold a meeting in Philadelphia this month ... We have posted a review of Colin McRae Rally Mac. This game features over 30 cars and many famous scenic spots from the sport. While the game is a port of Colin McRae Rally 2005 on the PC, the game holds up well to age, with its rapid frame rate, and solid game mechanics. Despite Colin's comparably modest system requirements, which allows play on high-end PowerBook G4 or PowerMac G5 machines, it does not support the Intel integrated graphics chipsets, leaving Mac Mini and MacBook gamers out in the cold.

MacNN seeking web/Xcode developers

MacNN (along with its networked sites) is looking to build several iPhone applications as well as expand its Web interface/functionality. If you are a Mac OS X developer with experience using the iPhone SDK and are interested in developing some applications send us your information. Specifically, we are only looking for PHP/MYSQL programmers with at least 3 years of experience with advanced programming (caching, memcache, load issues, optimization, security, advanced AJAX/CSS 2.0, etc.) and Xcode programmers with at least 2 years of experience using the Apple's development environment. For more information, see this page.

Adobe's Flash 2 Beta for OS X gets bug fix

Adobe's Flash 2 Beta for OS X underwent a small update 7-7-08 (flash beta 10.0.0.536) quickly addressing the problematic release of 7-02-08 (flash beta 10.0.0.532), specifically: ixelated/unwatchable video problems are fixed as tested on single and Dual G4 machines running Leopard and Tiger.

iPhone 3G ringtone tool

Fashion Funky has posted a tool for putting ringers on the iPhone. The process is: Download iRinger. Unzip the file and run it. Three simple buttons to make your job easy, there is even a fade in / out option. Click Import , select the MP3 file that you want and make sure you use the best 30 seconds of the song. Its simple enough all you need to do is grab the display and move it till it reaches the point from where you want it to begin.

The Macintosh Business Users Society meeting

The next meeting of The Macintosh Business Users Society of Greater Philadelphia (MacBUS) will be held on Tuesday, July 29, 2008, at 6:45 pm. At this month's meeting, Dale Fletcher will be on hand to demonstrate how Adobe Elements 6 and Icon Builder can be used to enhance the Mac OS X Desktop, create interesting folder designs, and more. The group of approximately 75 members meets this month at: Hunt Room, Dorrance Hamilton Hall, University of the Arts, 320 South Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA.
