iLuv dual-dock alarm clock

iLuv today unveiled a new alarm clock, the iMM173, which is capable of docking both an iPhone and an iPod simultaneously. Alarms can be set to play from either of the docked devices, or else a buzzer, FM tuner, or any device with a 3.5mm output. The sleep command has similar functionality. Sound is reproduced through two 5W speakers, complemented by equalizer controls.

The clock is also capable of charging both docked devices at the same time, regardless of their model. The FM radio component includes digital tuning, user preset stations, and remote control; the LCD, meanwhile, can have its brightness adjusted between 10 different levels for easier sleeping. The docks are compatible with the iPhone 2G/3G or any iPod higher than third generation, and iLuv expects to ship the iMM173 in early September for $130.

    Wow!

That looks head and shoulders above the iHome alarm clocks. Lit LCD segments! Support for 0000-2359 twenty-four hour display! That's something the iHome people never quite got their head around.

I held off buying an iHome in the hope that something better would come along, and it has. The iLuv is definitely going on my Christmas list, though I doubt that I'll be able to resist picking one up before December.
