PwnageTool 2.0.3 released

The unofficial iPhone Dev Team says it has released v2.0.3 of PwnageTool, its iPhone/iPod hacking utility. The software now supports Apple's v2.0.2 5C1 firmware, and additionally includes beta 6 of the new Installer.app. The Dev Team warns, however, that the program cannot yet unlock the iPhone 3G's baseband, and the compressed TBZ file should not be decompressed with a tool called the unarchiver, as it breaks PwnageTool's permissions.

The Team says it has also released beta 150 of QuickPwn, a similar Windows app. The software has been given an updated graphical interface, which is more closely integrated with the main executable, and includes BootNeuter support for 2.5G iPhones as well as unspecified "fixes for YouTube." The developer does not recommend using it with virtualized copies of Windows however, due to problems with USB resets.

These kids do good work. But damn, I wish they'd wake up, smell the coffee and give their apps a less cringeworthy name.

I wish Apple would wake up, smell the coffee, and stop making us use apps with cringeworthy names to be able to tinker with the iPhones WE PAID FOR...

Who knows, maybe to them, this is the less cringeworthy name. The original might have been 733tPwnageH4x0r7001See, the name doesn't seem so bad now, does it.

No one needs to smell the coffee other than Grr. Testudo you are bang on the buck. I really like the name "Pwnage". It is what it does - pwns your phone. Actually it would be better if they called the app "Pimpage" as it pimps your phone to use better quality apps than the ones available on App Store.

Moreover "what's in a name?" Call a rose by another name and it would still smell the same.
