Apple UK iPod rebate

Apple UK posts Back to School iPod rebate

Apple's UK storefront is now hosting its own Back to School deal, similar in scope to one recently ended in North America. Unlike the US scheme, which focused primarily around the iPod touch, the UK deal concentrates on marketing the new iPod nano, though students and teachers can choose a Touch if desired. The deal also does not completely cover the cost of a player, and instead offers a rebate of up to £95 for an iPod with the purchase of an eligible Mac.

WebMessenger Mobile extends OCS to iPhones

The software serves as an extension of Microsoft's Office Communications Server, which handles synchronous communications such as VoIP, instant messaging and conferencing, and links it with contact data from Active Directory.

iPod nano 1.0.2 firmware

Apple posts 1.0.2 firmware for fourth-gen Nano

Apple has released a v1.0.2 software update for the fourth-generation iPod nano, distributing the code through iTunes. The software bypasses a v1.0.1 release, and is officially described only as providing "support for the 4th generation iPod nano," with no details of individual fixes. Exploration has so far revealed no substantial changes other than a corrected spelling error. The update is also compatible exclusively with the new Nano.

Marware Touch 2G cases

Marware adapts cases for new iPod touch

Marware says it has adapted three of its case designs to fit the new iPod touch. The CEO Flip Vue is a leather pouch with a flip-top, which protects the iPod when closed, or allows full access to the touchscreen when open. The bottom of the case, meanwhile, provides access to the dock connector and headphone jack at all times. The case also has a belt clip, and comes with a protective film for the screen.

Logitech Pure-Fi iPhone

Logitech shows two iPod/iPhone Pure-Fi sets

Wrapping up its introductions today, Logitech launched a pair of speaker docks that are some of the company's first specifically iPhone-compatible devices. The Pure-Fi Express Plus borrows the same omnidirectional sound technique used in the just-announced Z-5 to put out stereo audio in nearly all directions, creating a consistent sound field useful for outdoor gatherings or unusual placement. Appropriately, the Express Plus can also run entirely on battery and has its own handle for a quicker move from room to room.
