Apple updates Remote app

Apple has released an update to its proprietary app for iPhones and iPod touches, Remote. The program lets users control music on a computer or Apple TV through one of the handhelds, with the ability to view album art and information, and configure audio output through AirTunes. The updated version, 1.1, adds Genius support, letting users create the recommendation playlists remotely.

Similarly, people can now use Remote to create and edit general playlists for a computer's copy of iTunes, where users were previously restricted to pre-existing files. The app is a free download, and available in over a dozen languages, such as French, Chinese, German and Spanish.

    Removal of feature

Apple also appear to have removed the ability to control remote speakers in iTunes from the Application, a backwards step! You could with the last version select if you wanted the music played through the Computer Speakers of if you had one connected an Airport Express, this has now gone.
