Facebook 2.0 app debuts for iPhone/iPod touch

Pushing the edge of a September deadline, Facebook has released v2.0 of its self-named iPhone/iPod touch application. The software makes a number of significant changes, most notably to the News Feed, which now displays everything from the desktop edition of the site. In previous versions of the app, only status updates and mobile photo updates were shown.

Users can additionally go beyond uploading photos to adding tags and captions, as well as posting pictures on the Walls of other people. The app should now also be more stable, particularly for those with large numbers of contacts, and enable search through both inbox messages and profiles. The latter function permits the sending of friend requests. Facebook 2.0 is a free download from the App Store.
