Techspansion, creator of the media conversion applications iSquint, VisualHub and AudialHub has closed down. The developer, Tyler Loch has updated the
companies website which notes that the decision to close down was a personal one but promises to keep the support forum and email available for a while longer to take care of any remaining issues. The site also explains how to back up the applications so that they can be saved and used again in the future. Loch believes that the software will continue to work in Snow Leopard but is unsure of how long after that each application will continue to be supported.
It would also seem that Loch is considering releasing the source code for the application so that other developers may pick up the applications and keep them going.
Loch states on the main Techspansion website that it would be "closing its virtual doors" after "much soul-searching."

Shame
I love ISquint. I've been using this program since I first converted to the Mac platform.
source please
Oh yes, please release the source code so others may keep these awesome apps alive. If it's a question of money, I'm sure something like a donation drive to release the source, with the code released once donations reach a certain threshold, could bring in a bit of funds to compensate for the code donation to the community.
I do wonder...
...what actually prompted the closing. 'Personal reasons' is about as vague as things can be.
a shame.
i really like both Visual Hub and Audial Hub. use them both quite often. i hope they will continue to work in 10.6.
Re: source
Releasing source is rarely about money, its usually about licensing and copyright concerns.
Shame
This is really unfortunate. AudialHub and VisualHub are both brilliant products. They are really, really useful. Sam
Alternative
I have been a long time paid customer of VisualHub and will continue to use the latest version until the inevitable OS update breaks it, but be aware that the latest beta of HandBrake allows you to convert media files from one form to another. I'm sure it is not as feature rich as Visual Hub, but it does work for what I use VisualHub for mostly, i.e. converting/downsampling files for viewing on my iPod Touch.
I am sorry
I am very sorry to hear it.
ISquint is rellay a good software.
I find more reasons:
iSquint - free Mac iPod video conversion applications discontinued, why?
