iTunes HD for four majors
Apple has announced that all four of the major basic-cable TV networks -- ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC -- are now selling shows at the iTunes Store. During the initial launch of HD programming on iTunes, most content was limited to NBC. ABC material in HD now includes the likes of Lost, Ugly Betty and Desperate Housewives; CBS shows include various versions of CSI, plus NCIS and Numb3rs.
Fox shows in HD include Bones, House and Prison Break. iTunes is also carrying programming from related networks, such as Eureka and Battlestar Galactica on the Sci-Fi Channel, and Monk and Psych on the USA Network.
HD shows are priced at $2.99, versus the standard-definition cost of $1.99. Most of iTunes' TV content falls into the latter category, as there are over 70 networks represented on the site. HD shows are also available exclusively within the US, despite American shows being syndicated in regions such as Canada and the United Kingdom.

I didn't realize those networks are considered "Basic Cable". I think a lot of people wish they strived for that type of quality.

I don't understand why the shows are not available in HD in Canada. The current quality of TV Shows in iTunes sucks big time. It's worse than if I recorded the shows myself.
Come on Apple/Studios! Give us shows in HD here, otherwise it's Torrents forever as I refuse to pay for something with inferior quality.

Why can't I rent HD movies on my Mac? I have to use an AppleTV to do that. I don't want that, I want to use my Mac. That's what's connected to my TV because it gives me far more flexibility.
Gah.
