Audio-Technica headphones
Audio Technica on Friday announced the upcoming release of a number of headphones that range from the entry-level earbuds to the ultra high-end meant for audiophiles. Starting at the top is the ATH-A2000X set that includes 53mm (about 2.1in) diameter drivers and deliver frequency response of 5Hz-45kHz. They also share their 42-ohm impedance level and maximum loudness of 101dB with the slightly less costly ATH-A1000X set. Apart from the gold color of the aluminum housings, the lesser headset gives up some fidelity, with a slightly lower frequency response range of 5Hz-42kHz. Either set is intended for use by dedicated listeners.
Moving downscale in both price and size are the ATH-CK100 earbuds. They are the first product from Audio-Technica to use a triple-driver system, which is also the smallest In-Ear Monitor (IEM) grade set-up in the industry. The set houses the speakers in a titanium housing, contributing to a total weight of just 4 grams (0.14 ounces). The ATH-CK100 can deliver 113dB of sound pressure level at a 23-ohm impedance, with frequency response rated at 20Hz-18kHz.
The new ATH-CKM30 earbuds are the affordable, everyday in-ear phones, available in a choice of colors: red, black, brown, orange, purple and white. They sport 10.7mm drivers that deliver 14Hz-24kHz response at a 16-Ohm impedance and a maximum 104dB loudness.
The ATH-A2000X headphones are priced at the equivalent of about $779 including taxes, with the ATH-A1000X set costing $603. Both are expected to ship in Japan on December 5th. The three-driver ATH-CK100 earbuds will cost about $561, while the ATH-CKM30 headphones cost about $40. Both ship on November 21st. Audio-Technica regularly exports some of its lineup to the US but hasn't yet announced any plans. [via Impress]
