iRa allows surveillance control and viewing on iPhone

Lextech Labs has introduced iRa, a remote surveillance viewing and control application for the iPhone or iPod touch. The app goes beyond the simple video feed function by allowing full control over pan, tilt, and zoom (PTZ) functions of monitoring equipment. Users can define groups of cameras containing an unlimited number of feeds even across several geographic locations. The camera views can be tiled across the screen and then switched to a single camera by touching the appropriate feed.

The technology requires a WiFi connection to access the content, and automatically discovers configured network cameras. The app has been tested to work with all Axis video and PTZ devices, any IP enabled Pelco-D PTZ unit, the Quickset GeminEye, and more.

The iRa app for the iPhone or Touch is available from iTunes for $900. Users that download the app must have a knowledge of network and camera system configuration. Lextech provides a list of capable installation and integration partners on its website.

Agreed. If this app sold for less it would make them more money, but hey... who am I to say, I'm sure they used some sort of statistic to come up with such unreasonable figure.

That's like Frogger selling for $10

Yeah, at first I thought the $900 was for maybe the networking software to support a system of cameras, and each iPhone would be just a few bucks as a viewing portal. But no, it's $900 PER PHONE! Wonder who will be buying this?
