Amidio intros Noise.io synth app for iPhone, Touch
Amidio has released Noise.io, a synthesizer instrument for the iPhone or iPod touch. Users can create "303-like" basslines and add other melodies using a sequencer function, or use the synth controls to play live. The app takes advantage of the unique iPhone interface, with different functions controlled by finger slide, multitouch, and accelerometer. The developers used Enhanced Subspace Frequency Modulation (ESFM) instead of traditional FM modulation to simplify the creation of unique sounds.
Three noise generators are included, along with various filters, effects, and assignable LFO. Parameters can be mapped to five different axes; left-right, up-down, multitouch, accelerometer roll, and accelerometer tilt. Extra presets can be downloaded through an internet connection, and a snap to beat function corrects user timing errors. Noise.io for the iPod touch and iPhone is available now from iTunes for $10.
