Houdah releases ACTPrinter app for iPhone

Houdah Software has released its latest app for the iPhone and iPod touch, ACTPrinter. The program allows users to print documents to their mobile device from any Mac application. ACTPrinter can be used to save electronic tickets, boarding passes, bar codes and e-mails. The company claims that bar codes contained in the documents can be scanned from the display of the iPhone or Touch.

The program integrates Mac OS X PDF Services, which is installed during the first launch of ACTPrinter for the Mac computer. Users can view content in portrait or landscape orientation, with support for pinch zoom. ACTPrinter is available from iTunes for $1.

PRINTING!

While this is a nice step forward for some travelers (few airlines accept this method), what is really needed is a print utility - a standard that all software suppliers can follow, so you don't need to download a print driver for every single application. With some nearly-usefull apps out there like 'SPREADSHEET' (which still doesn't support iWork NUMBERS), and the pending release of more similar applications for word processing and spreadsheets, why is it that we still can't send documents to a printer over WiFi? You can bet the Android will have that soon - like cut paste, like Flash, etc. Apple will soon become a 'follower' and not a leader. This should have been in ROM to begin with.
