FlightTrack for iPhone monitors flights, routes
Developer Ben Kazez has introduced FlightTrack, a new program for iPhones and iPod touches. The app uses data from FlightView to display flight routes in real-time, as well as related information. Aside from visual depiction of a flight's progress, users are given arrival and departure times, the current weather situation, and even the current speed and altitude of a particular plane.
Users can search for info by categories like airport or flight number, create travel itineraries, and track multiple aircraft simultaneously. The app further includes an offline mode, based on data saved every five minutes during the time when a connection is available. FlightTrack costs $5 through the App Store, and operates over both cellular networks and Wi-Fi, though the former is not typically allowed during flights.
