Griffin debuts RoadTrip with SmartScan for iPhone 3G

New RoadTrip for iPhone
Accessory maker Griffin has introduced a new version of its RoadTrip with SmartScan FM transmitter, tailored to the iPhone 3G. The device plugs into a car's 12V power socket, and broadcasts audio from an iPhone or iPod to a frequency set on the car's radio. The SmartScan feature identifies the three clearest frequencies in a given region, and assigns these to available preset buttons.
Aside from SmartScan, the RoadTrip's primary feature is s bendable steel neck, which allows a player to be stood upright while driving for easier control access; in the case of the iPhone 3G, this makes it possible to view navigation information. Devices are charged while connected, and track data is displayed on a stereo for systems with RDS-capable displays. The RoadTrip costs $100, and uses interchangeable cradles to support all iPhones and iPod touches, as well as the 80 and 120GB iPod classics, and second-gen or later Nanos.
