iPhone apps: Boomer's Sky Fishing, VelaClock, Lumen

  • Big Boomer's Sky Fishing ($2) is a game that has the user controlling Big Boomer the cat as he throws sticks of TNT at unsuspecting fish. Each type of fish is worth a different multiplier. Your score is be based on the multiplier of the nearest fish to the dynamite explosion. This fish is then used for the primary height calculation which is then multiplied by the number of fish also caught in the blast. Each game consists of 5 rounds which are totaled together to form your final score.

  • VelaClock ($4) is a world clock with a configurable user interface. Users can display the time of sunrise, sunset, twilight, duration of daylight, moonrise, moonset, moon phase and tilt and more. This can come in handy for photographers looking for specific lighting for a photo. Users can select up to 50 cities to monitor from a list of over 500 total cities.

  • Lumen ($2) is a puzzle game for the iPhone and iPod touch with the objective of lighting up a series of checkpoints by bouncing, coloring and manuevring a laser beam through obstacles. The game comes packaged with over 150 puzzles to play and also can access an online database of over 2,700 user submitted puzzels.

  • Darkness ($2) allows users to see the current moon phase along with the next three major moon phases, time for sunrise, noon, sunset, moonrise and moonset for any city in the world. Using the iPhones built in GPS users can also always quickly track the information for where they are. All the information needed is stored within the application meaning users will have accurate information even without an internet connection.

  • Lightastic! ($3) turns the iPhone into a portable Lite-Brite. The application allows users to create pieces of art by placing brighly colored lights on a blank canvas. The finished pictures can then be turned into frames and placed in sequences allowing users to create colorful animations.
