Kenwood intros iPod dock
Kenwood on Tuesday announced it will soon release its CR-iP500 all-in-one radio with an integrated iPod dock. It has a slot-loading CD drive that will support MP3 and WMA files recorded onto CD-Rs and CD-RWs. Digital files on flash memory drives can be played thanks to a USB 2.0 connection, while an iPod cradle lets users control their Apple music devices via the CR-iP500's own controls. The FM tuner can save 30 station presets and there is a clock radio with alarm functionality.
The dock will also charge compatible iPods, which include the fourth-generation or newer iPod mini, nano, classic and touch. The CR-iP500's most distinguishing feature, however, is its ability to rip CDs onto an attached memory stick at 2x speeds in the MP3 format, with users being able to select 256, 192, 128 or 96kbps sampling rates. The built-in amp provides 5W to each of the 80mm (3.15-inch) speakers.
The CR-iP500 will launch in Japan in early December, priced at the equivalent of about $278. [via Impress]
